September 26 - October 24, 2011 - “The Gospel of Mark”
Mark’s Gospel is the first story of Jesus that was written down for believers. It is short, intense and often hard to understand. Yet Mark wrote this story so that early Christian communities would understand—and become more faithful disciples. Known both as a master of surprise and a challenging teacher of discipleship, the evangelist Mark has given us a version of the good news that speaks honestly to the world as he and now we experience it. We will spend our five weeks together looking closely at Mark’s story of Jesus and imagining this surprising and challenging teacher speaking also to us.
Seminar Leaders: Patricia Lull, Executive Director, St. Paul Area Council of Churches
Faculty: Sarah Henrich, Professor of New Testament
